Introducing our exquisite Afghani rug, featuring a captivating Bakshaish Sampler design. This tribal-style rug showcases a teal background with a striking red border, creating a visually stunning contrast. Crafted with the utmost precision, this rug is made of wool on cotton, ensuring both comfort and durability.

Originating from the talented ethnic Turkmen weavers, mostly from the Esari Subtribe, this rug is an exquisite representation of Afghan craftsmanship. The wool used in this rug comes from sheep in the Ghazni Province of Southeast Afghanistan, known for its mountainous terrain that produces longer staple oily higher quality wool ideal for carpet weaving.

The raw Ghazni wool is skillfully hand carted and spun into carpet yarn around Herat, situated on the western side of Afghanistan. From here, the rug is beautifully woven on traditional floor looms in the weavers' own homes, showcasing the cottage industry type production.

This rug boasts an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type and features a cotton warp and weft, with all wool pile. Its double wefted heavily packed depressed warp weaving adds to its exceptional durability, making it a sought-after choice.

Embracing its rich cultural heritage, this rug is dyed using centuries-old all-natural dye stuffs. The stunning red color in this rug is achieved through the use of natural madder root dyes. These dyes, derived from the roots of the madder plant (Rubia tinctorum), have a long history of use as a dyeing agent and have been cultivated for centuries in various parts of the world. Madder root dyes offer a diverse range of warm and cool red, orange, pink, and brown shades, adding depth and vibrancy to the rug's overall design.

With a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 80, this rug exemplifies the meticulous attention to detail put into its creation. Based on our calculations, this item features an impressive 181,854 individually hand-tied knots in total, a testament to the dedication and skill of the weavers.

Measuring 3'3" x 4'11", this rug is the epitome of elegance and artistry. Its traditional design, superior craftsmanship, and use of high-quality materials make it a truly exceptional piece that will enhance any space.
