Introducing a stunning Afghani Baluchi tribal rug, this exquisite piece showcases the craftsmanship of ethnic Turkmen weavers, primarily from the Esari Subtribe. Made with wool sourced from sheep in the mountainous terrain of the Ghazni Province in Southeast Afghanistan, known for its longer staple oily higher quality wool, this rug epitomizes the artistry of carpet weaving.
The Ghazni wool is carefully hand carded and spun into yarn in Herat, located on the western side of Afghanistan. This yarn is then meticulously woven on traditional floor looms in the weavers' own homes, reflecting the cottage industry type production. With an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type and a cotton warp and weft, this rug features a durable construction that ensures its longevity.
Embracing centuries-old traditions, this rug is dyed using only all-natural dye stuffs, resulting in beautiful and authentic colors. The background is a sophisticated taupe, complemented by a grass border, creating a harmonious and visually pleasing design. The main color of the rug is a neutral beige, offering versatility and allowing it to seamlessly blend into any interior space.
Measuring 5'7" x 8'2", this new rug boasts a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 80, showcasing the meticulous attention to detail and craftsmanship. Based on the KPSI, we have calculated that this rug has approximately 518,925 individually hand-tied knots.
Experience the allure of this Afghani Baluchi tribal rug, where every knot tells a story and every thread holds a piece of history. With its timeless design and superior quality, this rug is sure to enhance any living space, adding warmth, texture, and a touch of cultural authenticity.
