The Indian-origin rug features an erased Sultanabad design in a transitional style. The background is a subtle taupe shade contrasted by a slate border. Beige serves as the main color, contributing to the overall aesthetic of the rug. It is crafted from wool on a cotton foundation.

This rug has been recently woven, with its final washing and multiple finishing processes completed in Jaipur. Chromium dyes are utilized for their color accuracy, light fastness, and consistency, particularly beneficial for the antique finishing process that gives the rug its vintage appearance. The weaving process largely involves smaller contractors who distribute designs and pre-dyed, hand-spun wools to various villages, with some residing as far west as Bikaner. The weavers, mostly working from their homes, are compensated based on the square meterage they complete. Larger rugs exceeding 10 feet in width are often contracted to villages equipped with stationary horizontal looms.

Rajasthan rugs, including this one, are known for employing asymmetrical Persian knots, a technique ingrained in the region’s weaving tradition for centuries. This knotting method contributes to the rug's ribbed texture at the knot collars. The wool is a blend of Ghazni wool from Afghanistan and South African wool. The foundation is double-wefted, consisting of a thick bottom weft made up of dense cotton with upwards of 10 plies, and a finer upper weft that is pure white. This loose threading of the upper weft becomes visible once the rug is sheared, creating speckles of white that evoke the worn appearance of antique rugs. This technique also makes the rug appear brighter and lighter overall.

The designs of these rugs often draw from antique Persian and Khotanese carpets, while the color palette can be a mix of traditional and modern shades. This particular rug boasts a knots-per-square-inch (KPSI) of 104, amounting to a total of 1,166,978 individually hand-tied knots.

Visually, the rug exhibits a densely packed pattern with intricate floral and geometric designs, offering a rich, tapestry-like appearance. The central features include a subtle medallion, consistent with the distressed, vintage aesthetic. The primary color palette includes soft shades of beige, gray, and pale blue, intentionally faded to enhance the sophisticated aging effect. The inner border is adorned with a repeated geometric and floral motif in softer shades, while the outer border is more detailed and slightly darker, effectively framing the central design elements. Symmetry along both horizontal and vertical axes is evident, a hallmark of traditional rug designs. The high density of the pattern underscores the craftsmanship involved in its creation.
