The Soft Melody rug from our "Soft Melody" collection is a contemporary design originating from the city of Agra, India. Handwoven by skilled artisans in their homes using traditional practices, these rugs showcase a harmonious blend of tradition, craftsmanship, and innovation.
Crafted with a luxurious blend of imported New Zealand wool (50-75% of the blend) and either superior local wool or South African wool, the Soft Melody rug boasts a lustrous finish that sets it apart from rugs made solely from local wools. The imported New Zealand wool is hand-carded and hand-spun into yarn in the regions surrounding Agra, supporting the local economy.
What makes the Soft Melody rug truly unique is its single-ply characteristic. Unlike the more common two-ply yarns, each knot of this rug incorporates a single thread, resulting in a denser and substantially heavier yarn. Coupled with an asymmetrical Persian-type knot, this creates a nubbier texture with visually pronounced knots, enhancing both the tactile and visual appeal of the rug.
The Soft Melody rugs are renowned for their 6x6 quality, showcasing the intricate craftsmanship involved in their creation. With a 100% wool pile and a cotton foundation, these rugs are tightly spun and mostly double-wefted, offering a pile height of approximately 3/8 inch. The handspun nature of the yarn results in subtle color variations, enriching each rug with a unique aesthetic achieved through artisanal dyeing techniques.
To ensure longevity and color vibrancy, the Soft Melody rugs utilize chromium (or chrome) dyes. These high-quality dyes, primarily imported from Switzerland, resist fading and maintain their vibrant hues over time. The use of these dyes, combined with the craftsmanship employed in India, result in rugs that showcase exceptional coloration.
With its elegant Fair Isle design, contemporary style, and a color scheme featuring an ice background, ivory border, and grey as the main color, this Soft Melody rug measures 11'10" x 14'8". 3 Day Money Back Guarantee and Return Policy for Handwoven Rugs
At Landry & Arcari, we hope to help you find the perfect rug for your home, which is why we give you a chance to view any handmade rug in your home for three days. If you decide the rug is not for you, you may return it within three days for a refund, less return shipping charges. The following conditions apply:
- The three-day return period begins upon delivery of the rug to the shipping address you provided.
- Returns after three days are considered exchanges and are valid for a merchandise credit only.
- Exchanges are up to 30 Days. After 30 days, your sale is final.
- All Customers are responsible for return shipping and insurance charges. Customers outside the Continental US will also be responsible for any local duty and vat charges.
- The item must be unused and in the same condition as received to be eligible for a refund or exchange.
- Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you of your return approval or rejection. If approved, we will include a copy of your refund.
- To return your rug, you will need to properly wrap and secure it in the original wrapping. If you require new wrapping, don't hesitate to contact us.
- THIS POLICY DOES NOT APPLY to custom ordered rugs, carpet and carpet area rugs, custom rug fabrication and alterations of any kind, rug & carpeting pads, wholesale, or trade accounts.

All carpet sales are final (after we review your order)
Each carpet area rug is made-to-order, which is why all carpet sales are final. However, once you place your order, we will contact you via email or phone to confirm the exact dimensions, carpet product, and color before processing your final order. This policy applies to carpet rolls as well.
