Introducing our exquisite Afghani Mamluk rug, a true treasure among our collection. This tribal-style rug showcases its origins in Afghanistan, specifically the Esari Subtribe known for their exceptional craftsmanship. The background is adorned in a soothing lavender hue, while the border elegantly features a delightful aqua color. The main color of this rug is a rich purple, adding a vibrant touch to its overall design.

Crafted with meticulous care, this rug consists of wool on cotton, resulting in a luxurious feel and enhanced durability. Its size measures 8'1" x 10'7", making it a perfect fit for various living spaces, adding an element of elegance and cultural intrigue.

The weaving process involved skilled Turkmen weavers, mainly from the Esari Subtribe, who utilized wool sourced from the Ghazni Province in Southeast Afghanistan. The mountainous terrain in this region naturally provides the sheep with longer staple oily wool, ideal for carpet weaving. The wool is then hand carted and spun into carpet yarn in the Herat region, before being woven on traditional floor looms. This cottage industry approach ensures the preservation of traditional techniques and emphasizes the expertise of the weavers.

Employing the asymmetrical "Persian" knot type and complemented by a cotton warp and weft, this rug showcases the most durable and handwoven craftsmanship. An astounding knots per square inch (KPSI) count of 162 reveals the exceptional attention to detail. Our calculations estimate that this intricate rug consists of a staggering 1,986,925 individually hand-tied knots.

Preserving the authenticity of the centuries-old trade, all-natural dyes were used to create the stunning colors of our rug, showcasing the intricate artistry and cultural heritage of its creation.

Immerse your space with the allure of this Afghani Mamluk rug, a testament to both the skilled weavers and the enduring beauty of traditional rug-making. Add a touch of tribal elegance to your home with this captivating piece of art.
