The raw Ghazni wool is then brought to the western side of Afghanistan, near Herat, where it is hand carted and spun into carpet yarn.

Using traditional floor looms in the weavers' own homes, this rug is woven with an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type and features a cotton warp and weft, with a wool pile.
